Positivity

*deep thoughts alert*
I've decided to write an impromptu post whilst sitting in bed at midnight - the times when you have your deepest thoughts. My main thought was - what is positivity and how do you achieve it?

The thing everyone says about leading a positive life is just removing the negative people out of it, those people that make your life less positive than it is. It sounds simple, like the perfect solution. But what if you can't just 'remove' those people? For me, that's the main problem. Since I was 11 I've been forced to share a house with someone who deliberately goes out of their way to bring me down. But let's not dwell on that too long. So this post is aimed towards people who can't just get rid of the negative people in their life, but could benefit from a few tips to make them lead a more positive life.

1)  Always remember that it will get better. If you're feeling low, it just means those times when you're happy will feel 100 times better.

2) If you're polite, a good person and try and act the best you can, then you know it's not you. You know that the people who try to bring you down do it due to their own accord and that it's nothing to do with you as a person. The hardest thing about a person bringing you down is that it makes you believe that you are a bad person. Just remember that you're not.

3) If you know there are elements of your personality that could be altered slightly to allow you to be more positive, then become aware of yourself and your personality. Be concious of your actions and if you notice yourself silently judging something or complaining, then stop immediately and think of something positive. Eventually it may become habit to be more positive!

4) Focus on the things that are good in your life, never on the bad things. If you're struggling on this, think about whether you have food to eat, whether you have a bed to sleep on at night or whether you own any item. This can sometimes have backwards effects, in the sense that it makes you feel ungrateful as a person for feeling sad when there are people in worse situations but we are all human. By this I mean we are all complete emotional wrecks (humans are the most emotional organisms in the world) so it's understandable.

5) Do something kind. Whether this be raising money for charity, smiling at a stranger or brightening someone's day, studies show that people feel happier after doing something for other people. It allows us to feel selfless and lead a more positive life. I, personally, like to raise money for charities like the RSPCA.

Remember to stay positive:)
